How to Make a Healthy Fresh Start in the New Year 2019

Christmas is over and the new year is around the corner. Before you know it, the new year is here and the race begins.

I wish you all a happy new year in advance. As we go into 2019, make sure you start preparing for the new year. Some of you met success while some of you didn’t do too well. But overall, you still have life and that’s something. Now you need to buckle up and get ready for the new year.

Now take note of these points if you want 2019 to be your best year.

1. Analyze Your 2018 Performance

By analyzing your successes and failures of the last 12 months, you can see what has worked and what needs changing.

Consider aspects like what channels bring the most and least quality traffic, leads, and customers, what social platforms receive the most engagement, what gigs and services are receiving the most response, and what is your best performing gig.

Don’t forget to also measure your promotional success. All this is valuable information that you can use to see where you need to focus your attention next year.

2. Create Goals You Will Reach

There is no point creating goals if you have no interest in actually reaching them. Whereas you do need to challenge yourself, your goals must be reasonable.

Constantly falling short is bad for morale. Plan goals that you will feel proud to achieve, that are within your capabilities, and that have meaning to your business.

3. Learn New Skills

One of the best ways to leverage your spare time in the upcoming year is to learn a new skill.

Just think about the most successful marketers in the world. Those who consistently succeed are those who are best at learning new skills.

Successful freelancers make the commitment to dedicate their spare time in the pursuit of learning (instead of vegging out in front of the television.) And they stick to their promise of learning.

With that in mind, there are countless things you can learn in your spare time. Make sure you learn new skills in the top 3 marketing categories. Content, graphics and video creation.

4. Have a Mentor and Collaborate with Others

The importance of mentors cannot be overstated. A good mentor inspires you, stretches you, connects you, opens your mind and most importantly, doesn’t judge. They provide a safe space to learn, experiment and ask questions, no matter how seemingly stupid.

Also work closely with other marketers with which you have similar goals. The more successful people you associate with, the more productive you become.

5. Start a Business Plan

Freelancing is not going to last forever. If you’ve been sitting on a business idea for a while and haven’t acted on it, it’s time to do something about it. Write down your ideas and start working on a business plan. If you don’t know how, buy a book on starting a business and read it, or check the Internet for tips.

Every step you take now gets you closer to your long-term vision. Just make sure you put 2018 behind you once we hit the new year and start afresh.

Warmest wishes this holiday season. We look forward to making 2019 a successful year together!
